Our Story
Welcome to Golden Hour Marin! My name is Lauren and I'm so happy you're here. I'm the creator of this local brand that I hope will capture the love we share for Marin County - in my *completely unbiased option* - the most beautiful place in the world. Marin is the gorgeous county right over the Golden Gate Bridge marked by our stunning landmark, Mt. Tamalpais. We are a place known for mountains, Bay views, redwood trees, beaches, coastal trails, scenic drives, lakes, and quaint downtowns. Some of my favorite memories of these places are during Marin's magical golden hour every evening. I hope each piece of apparel captures a special memory for you with family and friends in this spectacular place!

I'm originally from New Jersey, but I grew up in London, England. I came to the U.S for college and studied at the University of Pennsylvania. After I graduated, I joined Teach for America and taught 7th grade English in Dallas, TX. After teaching for several years, I moved to the Bay Area to get my master's degree at Stanford in Education Policy & Leadership. While at Stanford, I fell in love with the Bay Area and knew that's where I wanted to put down my roots and build a family. We moved to Sausalito right before the pandemic hit and I knew instantly that Marin was the place I wanted to be my forever home.
Since moving to the Bay, I have worked in two different schools in Richmond. Most recently I was a high school principal at a Title I school in Richmond. I took a step back from my position when I had my son and wanted to focus on being home with him. Since he was born, I've been dreaming up this new brand and I'm so excited to bring this passion project to life!
Our Big Goal
When I was a teacher, I always wrote up a 'Big Goal' for my students each year, so it only seems right to have a BIG GOAL for Golden Hour Marin.

My big goal for our brand is to be known to love and support its community, create high quality clothing, and continue to capture the beauty of this beloved place. I want people to adore wearing our clothes and feel a sense of pride when they wear the beautiful Marin landmarks. We want to be an apparel line that both locals and visitors value. We want to represent places that hold special memories for people and are reminded of those memories every time they put on their piece of Golden Hour Marin apparel.

A key part of our brand is supporting Bay Area teachers. We want to GO BIG when it comes to this part of our mission. Teachers deserve to dream up big ideas for their students and we don't want resources to be an obstacle to making their dreams possible. We want to partner with schools, foundations, non-profits and anyone else who is passionate about supporting Bay Area teachers.
